Multi-disciplinary artist Jennifer Weigel will offer some pointers and share her experiences from 10+ years exhibiting nationally, both in grassroots organizations and larger-scale institutions.
This class is designed to help artists of all levels working in all media gain confidence and better present themselves & their artwork in writing and when submitting artwork to shows & galleries, locally & nationally. Informal lecture format with question & answer and one-on-one opportunities. Feel free to bring an artist statement, prospectus, call for art, and/or other writing you have questions about.
About the Instructor:
Jennifer Weigel is a multi-disciplinary, mixed media artist residing in St. Louis, Missouri. Her work has won numerous awards and been exhibited locally & nationally, both at the grassroots level & in larger-scale institutions. She has publicly exhibited her art for 10+ years with her artworks featured in 500+ shows, events, articles, reviews & more throughout the country.
Weigel mounted a 10-year art anniversary retrospective event in 2012 at Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts. She has coordinated several solo traveling exhibitions and curated a group exhibition that traveled from throughout the St. Louis region to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She served on the St. Louis Chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art Board from 2006 - 2010 and has been active in numerous arts organizations in the St. Louis region.
Weigel recently opened her own personal artist studio & community space in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also offers consulting & coaching services to help artists better articulate what they do. Please feel free to learn more on the web page here.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, 2ndStory Space will be open by appointment only through Feb. 10 and will then be closed from Feb. 11 - March 2.

Updated Hours
2ndStory Space will only be open by appointment on Fridays from now on. I will be participating in the Cakeway to the West public art project and need more painting time at the downtown Cake Shoppe. We will still be open on Mondays from 12 - 3 for Monday Movie Mania, and also 12 - 3 Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Third Thursday premiere critique group
My 2ndStory Space Third Thursday open critique group met for the first time last night, and I had a lovely meeting with Carolyn Hasenfratz & Christine Ilewski. Thank you both for attending.
And thank you Carolyn for the wonderful writeup. I love events like this too, because they inspire me, push me to think about my art in new ways, offer opportunities to see others' amazing works, and nurture my soul. It's always good to connect with fellow artists and creatives!

Ask first regarding anything heavy, large, difficult to transport or fragile to be sure you can get it up the narrow stairwell to the space. You are welcome to bring works in process. Feel free to ask specific questions of the group to garner needed feedback. Since this is an open group across disciplines, expect artists, artworks & feedback to differ from session to session.

Studio Closed Due to Weather
2nd Story Space has been closed this week due to inclimate weather. The streets are still iffy and parking is not yet cleared.
