Are you intimidated by writing about your art? Do you want to enter national juried competitions & calls for art but don't know where to start? Multi-disciplinary artist Jennifer Weigel will offer some pointers and share her experiences from 10+ years exhibiting nationally, both in grassroots organizations and larger-scale institutions.
This class is designed to help artists of all levels working in all media gain confidence and better present themselves & their artwork in writing and when submitting artwork to shows & galleries, locally & nationally. Informal lecture format with question & answer and one-on-one opportunities. Feel free to bring an artist statement, prospectus, call for art, and/or other writing you have questions about.
About the Instructor:
Jennifer Weigel is a multi-disciplinary, mixed media artist residing in St. Louis, Missouri. Her work has won numerous awards and been exhibited locally & nationally, both at the grassroots level & in larger-scale institutions. She has publicly exhibited her art for 10+ years with her artworks featured in 500+ shows, events, articles, reviews & more throughout the country.
Weigel mounted a 10-year art anniversary retrospective event in 2012 at Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts. She has coordinated several solo traveling exhibitions and curated a group exhibition that traveled from throughout the St. Louis region to Cape Girardeau, Missouri. She served on the St. Louis Chapter of the Women's Caucus for Art Board from 2006 - 2010 and has been active in numerous arts organizations in the St. Louis region.
Weigel recently opened her own personal artist studio & community space in St. Louis, Missouri, where she also offers consulting & coaching services to help artists better articulate what they do. Please feel free to learn more on the web page here.
